Returning to art school a few years ago as a mature student was an amazing, exciting, challenging and motivating experience. A space to breath, time to experiment and access to incredible research facilities. It was great to be around people engaged with art, to debate and discuss and focus on developing my own voice with a bit more clarity. I graduated with a first class BA fine art degree and have renewed confidence in my work.

Currently my paintings investigate how humans interact with landscape, how that interaction shapes the landscape with agricultural buildings, gates, fences, field tracks and boundaries. I use the materiality of paint to generate a feeling of being involved with soil and connected to land, to experience a living substance with structure, strata, history and treasure contained within it. For me, we are inextricably linked to the natural world, I feel that connection deeply and explore this in my practice.

I love experimenting with painting techniques such as collage, layering, and sanding, primarily using acrylic & oil paint, mark making with oil pastel, pencil and found objects and adding handprinted collage papers. I am a member of Aberystwyth Printmakers and love to combine printmaking and painting techniques.
